Lexzavier black
Founder / Barber
It all started in Shanghai. In 2015, Lexzavier Black took a leap and co-founded Brash Barber and Tattoo, serving as head barber and soaking in the fast-paced, international flavor of one of the world’s biggest cities. He sharpened his skills as a guest instructor at All-Star Barberschool and earned a formal certification from the London School of Barbering.
Then, like many stories of the last few years, everything shifted during the pandemic. Lex came back to the States, got licensed in Chicago after putting in 1,500 hours behind the chair, and started asking a question: What would it look like to raise the bar for barbershops back home?
As trends in men’s hair moved toward longer, more personalized styles, Lex doubled down on precision, training in scissor work at Menspire Academy in England and dialing in his technique. But it wasn’t just about cuts. It was about the whole experience. He’d seen what was possible internationally and wanted to bring that same level of care and hospitality to Yuma, Arizona.
That’s how Elbowroom came to life: a modern barbershop built on intention, creativity, and community.
